Chief-of-Staff and owner of the hospital, Dr. Buchanan is an honors graduate of Wabash College and Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. He has been in companion animal practice for over 33 years.
Dr. Trish Wiggers
Staff Veterinarian
Dr. Wiggers, who served as the first staff veterinarian at the hospital, earned her distinguished undergraduate, masters and veterinary degrees from Michigan State University. She has been in private practice for over 25 years.
Dr. Cline graduated from Purdue University Veterinary School in 1989. She has practiced small animal medicine since then, working at The Downtown Veterinarian for the last 11 years. When not caring for our patients, Dr. Cline is busy being with her 3 children, husband, and pets - Peter the dog, Tommy the cat, Penelope and Mo the guinea pigs.
Amanda graduated from Purdue University in December of 2012. She is the owner of two anti-social cats named Stash and Violet. She's an extreme Taylor Swift enthusiast, a Starbucks addict, and a lover of shopping. Her hobbies include pedicures, concerts, and forcing her cats to love her.
Alycia graduated from Purdue University in 2018. She has 2 cats, Lorelai and Marcel, and a rambunctious dog, Norman, that keeps her entertained. She’s a Marvel fan and enjoys relaxing in the house watching Netflix with her little fur family and partner.
Jessie graduated from Ivy Tech with an associates degree in Business Administration. She’s a canine companion volunteer for IndyHumane. She loves spending time outdoors, especially in the fall hiking with her Frenchy Otis, and kayaking. She loves to read history and true crime books. Jessie is a coffee addict and an R&B enthusiast.
Brenda is a Purdue University Alumni with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. Brenda loves taking care of her animals in her free time, which include her dog (Javi), a bearded dragon (Zeke), 2 crested geckos (Charlie & Joey) and plenty of pretty fish! She also loves to paint, read, and go on hikes.
Mary has been with The Downtown Veterinarian since November 2003. She enjoys spending time with her family- furry and human, and also loves to organize. Mary has 2 dogs; Lucy (Chinese Crested) and Koko (Miniature Pinscher) and also has a cat named Momma Kitty who was adopted from the office.
Adriane graduated from Ivy Tech with an Associate of Applied Science in Hotel and Event Management. She enjoys cooking, all genres of music, anything outdoors, especially the beach, and hanging out with friends and family. But she loves spending time with her daughter and her golden retriever named Penny the most. Fall is her favorite season and she loves it when the leaves start to change color- she’s also a big fan of sweatshirt weather, bonfires, chili and football.
Carrie is currently enrolled in Penn Foster's Vet Tech program. Her two rescue pitbulls, Bane and Ivy are her main reason for being in the animal field. Carrie is engaged and has two beautiful stepdaughters. In her spare time she enjoys studying film and art, painting, and reading.
Stephanie is a 3rd year Psychology major and pre-vet student at IUPUI. She has always had a passion for helping animals and can always be found picking up stray animals and returning them to their home or finding them a new home. She has 7 dogs and 2 cats and spends a lot of her free time making sure they get all the love they deserve.
Anna is an avid hiker and loves being outdoors and going camping. She enjoys reading and crocheting. She has a Border Collie mix named Misha and a recently adopted kitten named Pippin.
Morgan attended the Vet Tech Institute here in Indianapolis. Her hobbies include making jewelry, going to nature parks/trails with her dog Ava, fostering kittens, and taking too many pictures of her cats.
Alexa is currently studying at IUPUI majoring in health sciences. When not doing the mountains of homework she has she loves spending time with her cat in my free time, finding a good book or tv series on Netflix, and baking! She makes some delicious banana chocolate chip muffins! Alexa also loves attending sporting events, comedian shows, and concerts. She enjoys bowling and playing tennis in her free time or just laying back planning her next vacation. Her favorite season is Fall and she is most definitely a mountain person.
I love sitting on fingers and shoulders and having my head scratched. In my free time, I like to learn new songs to whistle, play the bell on my new hanging toy, and shred my other toys that are made especially for that!
Charlie was abandoned as a tiny kitten in a box outside our front door last fall. He quickly found a permanent place in our hearts, and carries on the tradition of Ted’s devotion to keeping our staff’s spirits up and smiles on our faces.

Ted was granted his angel wings on October 8, 2018. He blessed us with his amazing personality and zest for life for over 14 years. After a courageous battle with cancer, however, we lost our good friend. Ted will forever maintain a special place in our hearts. We miss you, buddy.
Lazarus is Dr. Buchanan’s best friend. He came to us after a horrendous trauma, and suffering catastrophic injuries. His will to survive and heal, however, allowed him to finally recover. Lazarus serves as our official hospital security manager and “bon vivant.”
